SOIK Selected for Japan’s METI Supplementary Budget Global South Co-Creation Subsidy — AI-Powered UHC Platform Project in Africa

SOIK Corporation announces that its project, “AI-Powered Integrated UHC Platform for Digitalizing Health Financing in Africa — Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, and Guinea,” has been selected under the FY2025 Supplementary Budget Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

This project will demonstrate an AI-powered integrated UHC platform, primarily in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), connecting the Ministry of Health, health centers, and community-level services.

The platform’s core functions include AI-powered ultrasound-supported antenatal care and optimized health financing allocation linked to Performance-Based Financing (PBF) data auditing. Building on high-quality and reliable health data collected at the frontline, the platform will support the integration and visualization of health data, including maternal and child health information, decision-making support for healthcare providers and administrators, and strengthened patient referral pathways. Through these functions, the project will develop a data-driven digital transformation model for health systems connecting frontline services with policy-level decision-making.

In rural and remote areas of Africa where medical resources are limited, the project aims to promote early identification of risks among pregnant women and newborns and facilitate timely access to appropriate care. It will also establish a digital health foundation capable of continuously monitoring and evaluating outcomes, from the delivery of health services to impacts related to improved survival and health outcomes.

In addition, feasibility studies will be conducted in Zambia and Guinea to assess the applicability and adaptability of the platform to each country’s health system and to develop deployment models suited to different institutional and operational contexts.

Through this project, SOIK aims to build a high-quality AI-powered health data infrastructure that enables evidence-based decision-making and appropriate interventions even in areas with limited access to healthcare. By contributing to sustainable health systems that improve access to care and help save lives, SOIK will continue to advance the international deployment of a Japan-originated digital health model.
