We are pleased to share that "Asahi SDGs ACTION! / With Planet," an SDGs media platform operated by the Asahi Shimbun, has featured the policy proposal event "Policy Pitch," held in Tokyo on April 27, 2026, highlighting the participation and proposals of our Founder & CEO, Kuniyuki Furuta.

The event was organized by PoliPoli Inc., a startup that supports policy advocacy, as a forum to reframe global health from the perspective of "health and medical security."

A video message was delivered by Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Katsunobu Kato, former Minister of Finance. The program included a corporate panel discussion as well as policy proposals made to members of the National Diet by startups and student organizations active in the field of global health.

Furuta, who works to advance maternal and child health, introduced SOIK's digital maternal and child health service—integrating smartphone-connected ultrasound devices and electronic medical records—deployed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other countries with high maternal mortality rates. He proposed that, for Japan to lead the global health agenda, it is essential "not only to provide equipment and technical support, but to build mechanisms that follow through to clinical outcomes and deliver measurable results."

Against the backdrop of the United States' announced withdrawal from the WHO and the dismantling of USAID, which have intensified headwinds against foreign assistance, the article also presents a broad range of perspectives from speakers—including the need to reframe global health as an investment in the future, and the importance of earning public understanding through greater transparency of contributions and the visualization of outcomes.
