On March 7, 2025, SOIK CEO Furuta participated as a panelist in the session "Investment and Innovation by Private Companies: New Pathways for Infectious Disease Control" at the 2nd Pre-TICAD Summit on Infectious Diseases and UHC in Africa held at the International Conference Hall of the First Members’ Office Building of the House of Representatives in Tokyo, Japan. The summit was organized by Malaria No More Japan.

The session focused on discussing new initiatives led by startups in Africa, the impact of investment firms, and potential government support. The discussion was moderated by Ken Shibusawa, a member of the Global Health Strategy Promotion Conference. Alongside Furuta, other panelists included Takako Suzuki, a member of the Global Fund Japan Committee Parliamentary Task Force and a member of the House of Representatives; Osamu Kunii, CEO of the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund (GHIT Fund); and Mary Yeboah Asantewaa, Head of Africa Business at Sora Technology.

During the session, Furuta introduced SOIK’s initiatives and the current state of infectious disease control for pregnant women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between private companies—including startups—and governments or international organizations to co-create solutions for infectious disease challenges.
As we move toward TICAD 9, SOIK remains committed to deepening public-private partnerships, advancing innovative approaches to addressing Africa’s healthcare challenges, and delivering sustainable solutions.
